History of Tipp City
Tipp City was founded in 1840 along the Miami and Erie Canal. Orignally named Tippecanoe City, its name was inspired by William Henry Harrison's nickname, Tippecanoe. When the canal use declined due to railroad development, the city's growth slowed until the development of U.S Highway 25 and Interstate 75.
